Holiday Planning and Managing the Holiday Stress

By Nalini Mediboina; Posted Dec 13, 2017

I don’t know about you, but I like to throw holiday parties to remember. It’s a great reason to connect with friends and family. The only problem is that I worry too much and don’t give myself enough time to plan.

Planning parties is challenging let alone parties for the holidays. Execution is key, but with good planning, your party will be a success. As the host, ensuring all the moving parts are figured out and you have quality time with your guests. If you are like me, I want my event to be one that everyone will talk about.

Organization is important when throwing a successful party. Careful consideration needs to be made in the mind of the party's host. Will you throw a theme party? Who will you invite? Will it be an adult-only party? A buffet, perhaps?

If you are planning your party at home, when do you want guests to leave?

Once you have decided the kind of party you will hold, the menu is your next decision to make. You will need to consider your guests' preferences and any allergies your guests may have. Menu planning should consider the time each course will take. You don’t want to spend the whole night in the kitchen! If your guests do not know each other, try one of these “Getting to Know One Another” games to lighten the atmosphere and get everyone talking.

What activities are planned after dinner? Coffee and dessert are a nice way to wind down the evening and it will give you a chance to plan for any drivers who can't drive because they have been drinking. A few more games may be effective depending on the size of your party. Games are a great way to end the evening.

Out of town parties can be fun. Don’t miss out on the festivities. Contact us to see if we can help with your holiday plans!
